International Airports

Juan Santamaría International Airport, Alajuela: Serving all international and local arrivals and departures.

Daniel Oduber International Airport, Liberia: This office serves the Northern Zone’s urban capital, Liberia, as well as popular tourist destinations such as the Miravalles, Rincón de la Vieja, and Tenorio volcanoes and Río Celeste, in addition to the Costa Rica-Panama border and associated towns.

Central Valley and the Interior

San José Office: Adobe Rent a Car, Costa Rica Headquarters, serving the Central Valley for vehicle rentals and national operations.

La Fortuna Office: The La Fortuna office services clients visiting Arenal Volcano and hot springs, numerous resorts and hotels, and neighboring towns.

Central Pacific Coast

Puntarenas Office: The Puntarenas office serves clients traveling to and from the northern portion of Puntarenas Province, including the beaches and towns of the southern Nicoya Peninsula, such as Tambor, Cobano, Montezuma, Mal País, Santa Teresa, Nosara, and Sámara, among others.

Quepos/Manuel Antonio Office: Our Quepos Office serves visitors and residents of Quepos and Manuel Antonio, as well as the Quepos airport for in-country flights.

Uvita Office: This office offers services the beach and coastal towns of the Pacific Southern Zone, including Dominical, Bahia Ballena, and others.

Adobe Rent a Car is open on Sunday

Most of our 16 offices are open seven days a week, 365 days a year. Remember that Adobe Rent a Car Company offers cheaper options for your vacation needs.

Central Valley Operating Hours

In the Central Valley, our Juan Santamaria International Airport office is open Monday to Sunday: 5:00 a.m. – 10:00 p.m. Our downtown office is open Monday to Friday: 8:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. and Saturday and Sunday: 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.

Country-wide Office Hours (outside of the Central Valley)

All other offices are open from Monday to Sunday: 8:00 a.m. to 5 p.m., except for our Grecia, Ciudad Quesada, and Heredia offices, which are closed on Sunday.

How does renting a car from Adobe work?

Renting a car from Adobe is easy!

Our online reservation form has six easy steps and takes only a few short minutes to complete. Adobe Rent a Car offers complimentary shuttle service to and from Costa Rica’s international airports:  Juan Airport in San José and Daniel Oduber International Airport in Liberia. If you’re a tourist visiting the country, just send us a copy of your trip itinerary, including the airline, flight number, and arrival time and an Adobe shuttle bus will pick you up at the airport.

Car Rental Documentation and Payment Requirements

Visitors to Costa Rica require the following valid documentation to rent a car from Adobe.

  • An original driver’s license, valid for more than two-consecutive years following its first date of issue. A valid International Driver’s License is required for visitors whose home license is written in a different alphabet; i.e., Arabic, Hebrew, Mandarin.
  • Driver’s licenses are recognized as valid only as long as the visitor’s 90-day immigration permit is valid (valid Costa Rica entry and exit stamp in your passport).
  • Your original and valid passport with the immigration entry stamp.
  • A valid MasterCard, VISA, Discover or American Express Credit Card is required to cover the $1,000 U.S. Dollar deposit. Debit Card and cash are not accepted.
